Joseph Holdcroft produced Majolica Ware between 1870 and 1885. A former disciple of Minton,
Joseph Holdcroft would have been inspired by the new creations of Leon Arnoux, who together with Herbert Minton introduced
the world to Palissy style majolica in 1851.
Like his co-worker George Jones, Joseph Holdcroft set up his own majolica factory and produced his
own distinctive range. A large amount of Holdcroft pottery is not marked, but we have been able to attribute our
stock to Holdcroft through one single piece which is monogrammed JH.
