ANTIQUE FRENCH FURNITURE
Somewhere in Time, Ramsbottom, Rossendale, Lancashire

During the British period which left us the legacy of all things Victorian, France experienced the periods of Louis Philippe, the Second Empire and the Third Republic.  The best known period is the Second Empire from 1848 to 1870, when Napoleon III rebuilt the city of Paris and made it into the splendid place it is today.  During the rule of Louis Philippe, the exiled Napoleon III lived in England and was much impressed by the changes brought about by the Victorians.  London had been rebuilt as a result of the fire.  The industrial revolution and the railways system had brought great change.  A new sewage system and parkland areas had vastly improved life for it's citizens.
